Google maps turn by turn navigation sound and rerouting

Hi,

I have iphone 6 with IOS 11.4 and I am in India.

There are 2 issues with google maps:

1, When I am using google maps once I give current location, destination and start, it gives voice over navigation on phone only once (direction) but later on there is no voice navigation till I reach the destination. It's very difficult to drive the car without voice navigation, I want the voice in phone only.

2, Google maps do not reroute itself once I change the direction (route).

Please help me how to solve the issues.

Hard to tell that. Are you turning wi-fi off when you are using cellular? You should leave wi-fi on, as GPS uses it as well as cellular triangulation for location. It does not have to be connected to a network, but it needs to be on, since it uses wi-fi location database info to help fix your location.

Since Google maps is not an Apple product, you would need to direct your questions to Google support about their application.

There are settings in Google Maps. However, if you are experiencing problems with Google Maps, then you need their support.

If you wish to verify the settings you have versus your cousin's phone, then look at them together. However, at this point, you need to get help from Google, not Apple.

Those are the only settings that I am aware of. Is it possible that you have Do Not Disturb while Driving turned on? I'm not sure if that would affect it, but it is a thought. Otherwise, I'm not aware of any other settings for Google Maps, so you would need to contact Google Support. I'm guessing that you are not connecting to a device inside the car? Or are you? You using Bluetooth? I know for my older car that did not have Navigation installed, I had to turn on the switch to handle it as a phone call for audio to work.

Did you take the time to contact Google Support to ask them what the issue might be? Again, there are no settings in the iPhone to change for Google Maps, those settings are in the Google Map app itself, so their support should be able to help you.

If there is a setting to be changed, it is a setting within the Google Maps app, which is NOT an Apple product. Contact Google.

I will contact google. I also checked the settings in my cousins phone and they seem to be same.

I am not sure whats the problem.

Can someone in forum guide me as to how to get tun by turn navigation voice? I get voice only once initially,

Hey Chris,

DND is not activated. I have contacted google as well for the same. No I am not connecting to device in the car but using the mobile speaker only.

One more thing if i can ask you... When I use my home wifi, google map shows correct location but with small blue circle but when i connect using cellular data it shows like approximately 50mtrs away from my current location with big blue circle. I have tried all like reset network settings, reset location settings, reset full settings, restored the phone using icloud backup, changed SIM card yesterday but still same issue. Can this be because of faulty antenna / flex cable??

Yes I have turned WIFI and cellular ON and the signal has improved lot post that <I read this on form earlier>. Voice navigation is still an issue. It gives me voice navigation only at beginning as I said and then nothing later ON.

Hi ,

I am also facing the same issue with my Iphone 5s.Before i was getting voice guidence till i reach the destination.It was rerouting also.Suddently both function started not working.There is nothing to do with the settings.I think its a bug from the software or app itself.Goole map was very accurate and convenient to use .But now its really annoying.If you get any solution for this ,Please share it with me
