New IPhone ... trying to connect to PC and PC continually sites that IPhone not recognized need latest version of ITunes on IPhone. Although I can download pictures from the IPhone so the PC does recognize the device.

I can't do it via ITunes on the PC because the PC says it has an incorrect version

The message means you need a later version of iTunes on your PC. The version of iTunes on the iPhone is correct and loaded with iOS.

You need at least iTunes 12.7.4 on your PC. This requires Windows 7 or later.
