iPhone pausing media randomly - solutions?

Over the past few months I had been noticing my iPhone 6 pausing Spotify, Netflix, Youtube and Music seemingly randomly.

It’s been happening over mobile data, WiFi and offline, and it doesn’t matter whether I have headphones plugged in or I’m using a Bluetooth speaker.

I tried a factory reset but no luck, so I actually traded it in for a 6S+ yesterday and set it up as a new phone but I have the same problem, so it wasn’t the phone itself.

Any solutions? It’s driving me crazy as I use my phone mostly for Spotify!

Hello eveisabella,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that different music and video apps have been pausing randomly. Although you had your iPhone replaced the issue is now occurring on your new iPhone 6S Plus. It sounds like your backup may have included the issue that is causing the music and videos to pause. In a situation like this you may need to restore your iPhone and set it up as new to test it. If the issue does not occur when your iPhone is set up as new, then that will confirm the issue is in the backup. In a case like this you will want to manually add your content back to your iPhone.

The following articles will provide you with the steps to restore your iPhone as new and to manually add your content back to your iPhone:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books from the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, and App Store - Apple Support

Best Regards.
