How to watch network television on a iPad

Am on the fence about ditching the cable tv and internet and getting an iPad to satisfy my needs. That would mean that I would want to watch some of the shows I like that are network television. Or, am I just going to have to drop those shows and catch them on reruns somewhere?

iMac (20-inch Early 2009), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), older base station

You will need an internet connection.

you can buy your shows from a provider such as iTunes, Amazon Video.

you can subscribe to Hulu.

if you want live tv you can subscribe to a service such as youtube tv, PlayStation vue, sling tv, direct tv now.

there is nothing built into an iPad to receive tv signals.
