choppy 4k video macbook pro

User uploaded file

This is my MacBook Pro specs but the 4k videos I shoot with my Canon 1 DX MII camera always plays back choppy even playing back on quicktime. Is there a solution or a fix I can do to solve this problem please. When I check all the you tubers they are using MacBooks but don't seem to complain about such an issue. I am hoping I am doing something wrong and this problem can be solved 🙂

Hey there, okmen.

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

I understand that playback is choppy on your MacBook Pro when you play videos uploaded from your camera in QuickTime. I'll be happy to help assist you with this.

First, I suggest some software isolation on your Mac to see if this is an issue with your main user account, or if it is system wide. You can test this by trying to play the video in another user account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac .

Then, if everything checks out in another user account, switch back to your main user account and take a look at the Activity Monitor app to see how apps running in the background could be affecting the performance of your Mac and causing this choppiness. See how apps affect Mac performance, battery runtime, temperature, and fan activity

And finally, if you find some apps that are causing an issue, you can prevent them from loading when you log into your main user account. macOS Sierra: Open items automatically when you log in

Let me know how this goes and if it resolved your issue.

Cheers.
