admin username and password not working during software download

I can log into my MacBook Pro with my admin username and password but when downloading software the same admin username and password is not working. How can I fix that or better still how can I bypass admin username and password when downloading software?

I assume you are downloading an app previously purchased from the App Store. If that's the case you need to provide the user name and password used to initially purchase that app.
