Trouble with Apple Mail on my iMac

I am using Apple Mail on my iMac. Lately I get some emails that should display an image but all I get is a ? in a blue square. That you in advance for your help resolving this.

In mail preferences > viewing check the box of load remote contents in messages .

It means the URL for the image cannot be found. This could be a server problem or one caused by the sender.

Thanks for your response. When I click on the "?" square, it takes me to the missing image. There must be something I need to turn on to get these images to appear in the email.
