magic move not working on keynote 8.0.1

Having difficulty with Keynote. Magic move is not working properly. It does not move, nor resize; all it does is fade to the next slide. I am using Keynote 8.0.1 and macOS 10.13.5. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5), iMovie version is iMovie 09

Magic move creates a transition between two slides when there is a difference between the two slides, if there is no difference then a fade results.

Try this test; place a shape top left corner of a slide,

duplicate the slide,

on slide 2, move the shape to the bottom corner and change the size of the shape

add the Magic move to slide one and play

If the above does not work Keynote will be corrupt, try resetting Keynote as described below, perform all the steps, in the order listed.

For this procedure to work you must use an application removal tool to uninstall Keynote.

Appcleaner is free and works well for this procedure, it can be download from here: Appcleaner

  • uninstall Keynote
  • empty the trash
  • shut Down the Mac (Apple menu > Shut Down)
  • wait 10 seconds, then press the power button
  • immediately after you hear the start up tone, hold down the Shift key
  • release the Shift key when you see the grey Apple screen, start up will take a few minutes longer than usual as the Mac is performing a software repair
  • after the repair and the Mac is fully booted, restart the Mac normally, (Apple > Restart)
  • install Keynote from the Mac App Store and test
