Downloaded Music is Sensored

On random songs/full albums, when streaming, I can hear the explicit version. However, when I download the songs/albums to a playlist or just to my library, Apple automatically censors them. I do not have any restrictions active on my phone, so I don't know why this is happening.

iPhone 8, iOS 11.4

Hello rienzoma,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are not able to download and play explicit versions of songs using Apple Music on your iPhone. I would be happy to provide some troubleshooting steps for this behavior.

If you previously had a clean version of the song/album in your iCloud Music Library, it could be preventing you from downloading the explicit version. Let's start by having you delete one of the clean versions of a song from your iPhone following the steps here:

Delete music, movies, and TV shows from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Specifically, use these steps to delete a song:

Delete a single item

  1. In the Music app, find the item that you want to delete. If you see a download icon User uploaded file next to the item, the item is stored in the cloud, not on your device.
  2. Use 3D Touch or touch and hold the item.
  3. Tap Remove User uploaded file .
  4. When prompted to confirm, tap Remove Download or Remove Downloads.

Once the song has been removed, redownload the explicit version with the steps here:

Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books from the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, and App Store - Apple Support

Let us know if there's any change, or if you're still only able to play the clean version after.

Cheers!
