A Chinese name has control of my Family Sharing

I select set up family sharing on my iPad and what do you know a Chinese family is in control of it and I have to ask a Chinese person for an invitation to join their family sharing on my Apple ID.

If I hadn't looked I wouldn't have known. Seems this is a well known issue for Apple if my google searching is correct. Appeasing Chinese persons who are restricted locally with Apple seems to be OK in Apple Security World.

As I sit here in .au I am not in control of my Apple ID as I can't simple take back control of Family Sharing. Is it so offensive to the business model for wrapping more humans into purchasing channels that the Family Sharing has a life of its own apart from my Apple ID. Nowhere in my iPad settings to cancel it. Nowhere in Manage my Apple ID in iCloud for me to cancel it. ***.

For god's sake show some integrity and give me back control of my own account.

Before blaming Apple for this, get the facts right, it is important to note that the decision to share your photos with strangers was solely yours. People get sucked into scums because they think they can save this world.

There is somewhere in your iPad to solve your problem.

Solution

On your iPad or iPhone, Open the Photos App, select Shared, you will see all the shared albums both from You and the other people.

Case 1 I am assuming you are the one who created the shared Album

Select Albums from You, below the page that comes, select People.

Now you have 2 options, to delete the album, this will not affect your photos as they are still either on your device or iCloud. You can go ahead and delete.

Option 2, Click the contact that you want to block, then select Remove Subscriber.

Case 2 I am assuming you were invited to a shared Album and in your kindness you accepted in the spirit of mate-ship (LOL @.au).

Select Album, select People and click Unsubscribe.

The above should solve your nightmare but please note that if the other party has been downloading your photos, you cannot do anything about it.

Case 3 I am assuming stolen Identity

Your apple ID is linked to your devices and phone number, you can simply change the password and block the Chinese user, use 2 factor authentication.

If you own the Apple ID you should know the answers to your questions to reset your password.

Finally, this may sound silly advice but different countries including China have different laws and they block certain features their citizens' phones for their own good reasons. It is important to stick to what your country allows you to do. In trying to help the Chinese person share photos you may have exposed yourself as someone who helps Chinese people avert their legal system and this carries a life sentence in China but not in Au.

Ah Jayprog I could forgive your brash presumptions and hectoring if you were actually helpful. Some more facts for you.

I did not share anything. I only use one Apple device for limited things.

I may have been deceived by a scumbag but I am very alert and used to encountering these across the internet.

I am still in control of my Apple ID and have changed my password a number of times.

This issue is not in my case related to any Album. I simply cannot access Family Sharing to manage it.

As sad as it may seem I have not been invited to any album and have not accepted that.

As much as I have sympathy for the restrictions the authoritarian regime in China subjects it's citizens to, this has never been a rationale for me seeking to lift them out of the darkness by trying to help a Chinese person share photos.

My internet searching showed this is a known problem. I have not invested the time to research how.. Apart from the simplistic cases you list above do you have any other more helpful suggestions?

My simple assertion is that if I control my Apple ID why do I also not have control of Family Sharing under that Apple ID. If you have a helpful answer to that I would welcome it. viz

"Cannot Start Family Sharing
myApple@id is
already being used for shared
purchases in 祯驰元's family. Ask 祯驰
to send you an invitation to join
Family Sharing"

If you find some generosity of spirit accompanied by useful knowledge please post again. May humanity survive.
