MacBook Pro Touch Bar Screen Flicker-random
New MacBook in Dec 2017, 16GB Ram. When woken up, fingerprint sign in, screen goes black then flickers and flashes in a random manor. Mouse can still move and select, if you can bare trying to follow it through the flicker/flashing. Renders machine useless for work or play. Then would not power on at all in May 2018. Apple replaced the logic board, which included the memory (all data gone, 😟). Got it back, thanks (minus use for a week). Flickering was present again within an hour or two (happens upon waking up). Took it to the Genius Bar. Arrived at store 950 for a 10 am open, already 12 people in line. Most seemed to have phone issues, but I was told approximately 25 minutes. 35 minutes later, at 1035, I inquired about the wait time, now pushed back to 1pm. (I'm guessing that Genius Bar appointments take priority, which I didn't have).
About 1240-1250 I was called up and about 1pm I saw tech. I showed a video of the issue and they apologized (but that didn't fix it, but nice gesture). It was a Thursday, estimated to be back next week.
Surprise, called me 210pm Saturday (two day repair, yay). Told me the display was changed, yay, hopefully fixed.
Saturday night, spent time erasing and re-loading Mac OS (tried to change computer name and lost admin privileges, my fault, but since I had no data, no loss to start from scratch.
I only used it a few minutes Saturday night, set up my email and checked if my Safari bookmarks showed up, they did, yay.
Sunday used MacBook for an hour or two, put to sleep, went outside for a while, came back, woke up the Macbook and Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!! The screen flicker and flash was back!
I'm very sad, disappointed, demoralized, crushed and apprehensive about the path ahead. Off to the Genius Bar (no appointment, cause it's not a simple, pick a time). Oh, and before I go, now I have to figure out how to clear the keychain, cause I set up my favorite sites with saved passwords. Not that I suspect anyone will care or notice, but I've always been a "least risk" believer.
I don't know if I'll respond to this, cause I won't have auto retrieval of this post and may not be able to find it (unless posts show up under your name, then maybe), plus I'll be without my Newest MacBook. I have an older MacBook (trouble free) but when I get the new one back, I hope to be using it... 🙂. At least the repairs are under warranty, thanks Apple. Just under 6 months of warranty remaining, I hope the next solution is a charm!
