Iphone X not connecting to Samsung Gear S3

I just purchased the IphoneX as an upgrade to my Iphone 7S Plus (which I had attached via bluetooth to my Samsung Gear S3). I attempted to attach the IphoneX to the watch via bluetooth. When I attempt to pair it, I can see the Samsung Gear S3. When I tap the device on the phone to connect, it shows 'Connected' but then immediately falls back to 'Not Connected'. I never had this issue with the Iphone7S Plus. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Did you put the watch in pairing mode according to Samsung instructions for set up with a new device?

There's probably some setting where the Gear needs to forget the previous phone, like there is for Apple Watch. Since the App and the watch are not Apple products though, you should check with Samsung.
