Pls help. I can not restart my macbook air after installing high sierra software update 10.13.5. Got black screen with cursor. Nothing came up. Thank you.

Try starting up in Safe Mode:
Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support
If neither of those work boot into Recovery and Reinstall Mac OS.
