i have iPhone 8 Plus with iOS 11.4
i read that there is an app switcher with 3D Touch:
By hard-press close to the lefthand edge of the screen.
However, this option doesn’t work in my iPhone.
All the other 3D Touch gestures work fine like pressing certain apps hard, and live photos also.
Does this feature work in iPhone 8 Plus or only in IPhone X?

No, I am using an iPhone ten and it works as I described to you. It also works by double-clicking the home button on your device to bring up the open apps.
You were misinformed. Open any app. Now at the bottom of the screen WITHOUT pressing, swipe one direction or the other.

In Ipad it works like this and you see the apps
i refer in iPhone to switch between apps like the double click the home button.

The Question remains: does the app switcher in Iphone 8 Plus exists but not with the home button?
