Text message forwarding option no longer available

since upgrading to the latest 11.4 thr “text message forwarding“ option is no longer available.

i already read through all,of the posts and solutions for this issue and none of them work. So now what is my option??

people keep saying to “log out”of Imessage and log back in. There is no “log out” feature. It’s just a matter of moving the iMessage toggle button from on to off.

so what is my next option? I still receive iMessages on both but no longer gettin text messages from those that don’t have an iPhone.

Help!!

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

OK, I really don't mean to sound dumb or repeatative. I'm very computer savy and have had IPHONES/IPADS for the past 8 years.

So, someone else suggested "logging out" of messages. As I stated I dont have the option on EITHER DEVICE to "log out" of messages. BOTH devices simply have a toggle to turn imessage on or off. That's it. I go into SETTINGS, get to IMESSAGE and there's a little switch next to it, I can slide it off or slide it back to green. That's it. There's no "logging in" to anything.

I've done this on BOTH devices and there's no change.

If there is a "logon/logoff" process, where would I find it???? Because it's definitely NOT in settings.

So I'm still at square one. The closest Apple Store is 2.5 hours away so I have to rely on advice. Im really upset that I updated because this wasn't an issue before then.

Never worry about ”asking”, it’s how we learn, as Greg‘s replied it’s under “Send & Receive” the fourth down in screen shot.

Tap and you will see your Apple ID shown at the top, or section to log back in if not already logged in.

Your getting a lot of advice now, so don’t worry, just take your time and try each suggestion in turn.

Log out on all of your devices.

Turn iMessages off on all of your devices. Just for kicks, restart them all. Verify that they are all logged into the same Apple ID. Verify they are all connected to data (wifi or cellular). Enable iMessages on your iPhone. Once it's completely enabled, enable it on all of your other devices. Then, on your iPhone, go to Messages. Do you now see Text Message Forwarding? If you don't, I'd suggest resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. It's kind of annoying but it may help resolve the issue.

I‘ve had similar happen before following updates, even if all your devices show that they are logged in, sometimes the update process “severs” the Messages link. The easiest is to logout of Messages on all your devices (as per previous post) then log back in, starting with your iPhone, when the others are also logged back in you should then see them appear under “Text Message Forwarding” which you can enable.

ps. I’ve read when logging out of Messages it might pay to restart device before logging back in again.

if you go into the send and recieve section on the ipad in settings > messages you will see "use your apple id" if you do sign in.. if you see your apple id listed.. tap it and sign out

then sign in again

the issue is 100% your ipad not being signed in on showing as on line by the phone... thats why it does not offer the forward option, nothing to forward it to
