car bluetooth connectivity issues iOS 11.4

Hi

I ve got a big connectivity issue with my car bluetooth since my iPhone 6 was updated to 11.4. I can see incoming/outcoming calls but there is no voice. My car is a 2017 mini, and the whole system was working perfectly before updating.

Tried everything (forget device, turn on/off BT, restart, restore through iTunes) but no joy. Any ideas to avoid this annoying, dangerous and illegal situation of talking while driving without BT?

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that since updating to iOS 11.4, you're having trouble with the Bluetooth connection in your car. I know this is an important feature to rely on; I'd like to help. I see that you've tried forgetting the pairing, disabling and re-enabling Bluetooth, restarting your iPhone, as well as restoring through iTunes; I appreciate you including those steps. I'd recommend working through the suggestions below:

If you connect using Bluetooth

  1. If you've connected multiple phones to your car stereo, try renaming your iOS device: Go to Settings > General > About > Name, and type a new name. Then try connecting again.
  2. Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.
  3. If you still can't connect, contact Apple Support.

My iphone 7 has the latest ios (12.1.2)...My VW polo stays connected but sound doesn't connects in bluetooth...it turns in phone and not in car after a couple of seconds...i tried restart, i tried forget connection from car and phone. I am desperate. The instructions say i must RESET my iphone...but i don't want to lose all my settings...i might been able to restore from my computer but if it doesn't work???

I am having the same issues. I thought it was the car(Range Rover Sport) but it appears to be a software issue. I can no longer play music over BT & calls drop and at times reconnections sporadically. The connection is very unstable. RR Has a sync app that I can connect via usb but I am still experiencing the same issue (admittedly I need to check if it’s the cable) but since it charges with no interruption, I think it’s the software. I have a iPhone 6,was considering getting the XS but I think I’ll wait. The software is up to date 12.1or so

Same problem, but it started after updating my iPhone 8 to 12.1.4. Calls work fine. I can see the song on my car display (2013 Tiguan), but the song length shows "--:--" and the song never plays. I can advance through songs but none of them ever play. Hitting play on the phone shows the song playing, but it's not actually playing on the car system.
