iPod Not Showing up in Windows Or iTunes

Oh I forgot to say that when you open your pod to have your pod turn on for some reason it erases everything on your drive. who knew

no, my ipod nano will not show up in itunes, i can only recharge it. but i cant add or take off music from it. when i put the ipod in the USB port no ipod shows up in itunes. should i try running the batteries totally out then put it in?

ALL I HAD TO DO WAS RESET MY I-POD SETTINGS AND RESET THE I-POD. MY COMPUTER NOW RECOGNIZES IT AGAIN!

i tryed to update my ipod (30GB) a couple of days ago, everything was gonig fine then it said it could not carry on with the update as there was a file missing, so i deleted itunes and downloaded it again. this did not work so i decided to restore my ipod but now it isnt showing up on itunes try a few things.
is there a simple asnwer to why my ipod/itunes is being this way.

my red ipod nano (2nd gen) isnt working, i can recharge the ipod, but when i plug it in it will not work, the ipod does not show up in itunes to sync. i have tried it on 2 other computers, it still will not work. i think i should try making it go dead and recharge it to get it working, that is what i did with my last ipod when it froze up, i hope it will do the magic for this ipod.

now my ipod will not work, it says it is out of battery power and it was on all night on the charger.

ha nvm it worked in the end, it hadnt drained of all its power. it went blank and then i put it in, it worked again and synced.

My problem with IPOD not showing up in iTunes have been resolved for now, I connected it to another PC (Vista), accepted to sync with the new library and now it is fine again - I am relieved!

This might be something for all of you having the same problem to try.

I've had a red 4gb nano since xmas...I was warned off the things but hey!
Freezing.
And now doesn't recognise my ipod, says it's corrupt! But only on my computer where I've just downloaded itunes version7.
WHAT. IS. THE. POINT?! grrrr.....
I bought mine new from ebay so what's the go on the warranty?

If this started after iTunes 7, read this article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 Even if there are no new USB drivers available for your computer, reload the USB Driver in accordance with the steps in the article.

After this, in My Computer, right click on your iPod and reformat it (FAT32 format). After that, Restore it in iTunes.

Download the driverguide toolkit. when it opens, it'll list everything connected to your computer, in it, etc. go to "other devices" and you'll see your ipod there.

Right click on ipod and select search->for drivers.

You'll get a pop up, and here's the catch-you have to pay to get the driver. I know it *****, but it works. trust me.

the reason the ipods arent working, is pretty much because windows, or itunes, or some other program has deleted the driver. so you now have to spend more money just to use your ipod again.

me to. I can not get this the computer to sync with my Nano???? Don't know where to turn. I tried all the things from the "help and support" ha ha.

I hope I have the solution to you all of your pains about this topic. I to had the same problem, which happen literally over night. Every time I would plug in my ipod via USB, I would get a message that my device is not recognized. I did the 5 r's. Nothing. I realized the only thing different about my system that I got severeal windows updates. I believe that's when things went south. Windows and Apple still do not get along. So, if you got any window updates lately, try to roll them back to when the ipod was working.
Hope this works like it did for me, well at least for now.
