MBP repeatedly crashes

My MBP has been repeatedly crashing, usually the screen freezes and then it restarts a minute or so later. Sometimes it doesn't restart, just freezes. This morning on restart it made a 3 beep signal, but when I restarted again it stopped doing this.

Things I've tried so far

  • Extended hardware test - showed nothing
  • Ran first aid on OS HD - no issues fixed
  • In place reinstalled OS X - didn't make a difference

I haven't been able to find crash logs for most of these, but one this morning did have a log, the error was:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)

Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000

Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

Full log - Process: fud [74] Path: /System/Library/PrivateF - Pastebin.com

I also ran EtreCheck, it didn't seem to turn up anything. Here is the full log

Hi,

I was actually able to figure out the problem myself. It looks like one of the clips holding the RAM chips in the logic board is slightly loose. Whenever the RAM chip moved, the machine rebooted. The 3 beeps is actually a signal that there's an issue with the RAM, which in this case was that it had moved out of place. There wasn't an issue with the hardware per se which is why the hardware test didn't pick up anything.

After some testing, I determined that the lower RAM slot was the problem. I'm currently running my machine with just one RAM chip in the upper slot, which has temporarily fixed it. I'm going to a Mac repair shop to see if they can fix the slots to save me having to purchase an entire new logic board.
