Updated my macbook 2015 model to high sierra, facetime photo booth show dark. Camera stopped working. No external camera connected. Just using plain macbook without any peripherals.

I am having this issue as well since upgrading to high sierra from sierra. I have tried everything so far including the suggestions above.
Also does not work in safe boot mode or with other users.
Internal camera as well as usb camera are not working.
Both internal and usb camera are showing up in system information though.
Cameras will not work in any application and it doesn't matter if it is a built in Apple application or hangouts or anything else.

Open Terminal.app then type:
sudo killall VDCAsistant
sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant
then reboot could solve the problem.
Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and try the camera from there. Any improvement? Reboot normally and try again.

Apple sent my MBP in for repair and returned it 10 days later. They replaced the screen and camera. All works well. $800 if not in AppleCare.
