How can I install Garageband on El Capitan

I asked the community hosts in this forum to contact the Apple Support team that is responsible for the Download pages with the updaters and they promised to report the problem with the GarageBand 6.0.5 download. But I have not heard of any result. And the current download is still the old version with the error message about "Invalid".

It is very difficult to get older versions of the applications for older systems, once the newer system versions are out. The advice I have given has been working until recently, and it has been the only option to install GarageBand on El Capitan. I have used it frequently. When I tested again, I am now getting the same message, when I try to run the GB 6.0.5 updater, even with the date set to the past.

GarageBand 6.0.5 would be running on your Mac, if you just could install the iLife version of GrageBand '11 and run the updater. Your Mac could also run an early version of GarageBand 10, but if the AppStore does not offer it for you to install, because the current version requires Sierra, there is no way outside the AppStore to obtain it any longer, unless a family member who owns GarageBand will help you by giving you a copy.

Try to contact Apple Support and ask for help to obtain an early version of GarageBand 10, compatible with El Capitan or a redeem code for GarageBand 6.0.5, so you can download it from the App Store.Sometimes Apple Support will help with older versions.

Do you get the warning message when you try to install GarageBand from the iLife DVD? What is the exact error message? Does it mention an expired certificate?

If the warning is about an expired certificate, set temporarily the date and time of your Mac back to 2012 (in the System preferences > Date and Time). That will make the certificates fro the installer valid again.

The old version of GarageBand will not run on El Capitan, until you run the updater : GarageBand 6.0.5

On El Capitan you could run the older version GarageBand'11, version 6.0.5.

You can purchase GarageBand '11 as part of the iLife bundle - Amazon or eBay should still offer iLife '11 installer CDs. Then run the GarageBand '11 installer and upgrade the version to 6-0-5 running the updater from Apple's download page: GarageBand 6.0.5

The digital signature is by Apple, so the only reason it might be invalid is that it is older than three years.

You should be able to run the installer, if you change the date back to a date shortly after Mar 7, 2012 (in the System preferences > Date and Time), when this update has been released.

What can i do to get garage band on my laptop. Im stuck in elcapitan because my computer can't update to anything better. Everything you have said léonie hasn't been helping me so i need something that will actually work.

I'm trying this and when i open it, it says its been corrupted or tampered with and its telling me to get a new copy of it. When I do, it keeps telling me the same thing. How can this be fixed?

That is the message that i keep getting. I download the dmg, open it, and double click the box icon thats there and keep getting this message. Is there anything im doing wrong and how can i fix it
