iPad drops cellular connection randomly

My iPad Mini 4 started randomly dropping connection a few weeks ago; there's no consistency as to where or when it happens, but it'll suddenly lose all cellular connection and the only way to get it back is to restart.

At first it was annoying but it's started happening more and more frequently, sometimes repeatedly, and whenever it loses connection, it also erases my data on some apps such as Telegram and Kik, making me reload them.

My best guess is a loose antenna but I'm open to any thoughts -- it's become unusable.
