Has this ever been solved or resolved? I have the exact same problem when playing games. The audio degrades over time and gets so bad that I have to stop the game
This looks like a standard configuration. Under Power Options -> Advanced, there are Processor Maximum and Minimum settings. As a test, can you change the Maximum from the 100% default to something lower and check?
They are set to DVD quality
I just read on the Bootcampdriver forum that my problem is a well known problem with Bootcampdriver audio drivers and most people use some kind of external USB soundcard to get rid of it. Guess that's what I will do
Can you play a CD/DVD instead of game and check the Audio quality?
Create a Windows System Restore point as well as a backup of Windows. Check bootcampdrivers.com and look for drivers for your Mac. If you do not see them, post a message for the webadmin. matd2100 posts frequently on this forum.
Normally, external audio sinks will use the the AMD HDA, while the internal speakers use the Apple Audio Device.
If the streaming test with Netflix does not show degradation, you should check if the Netflix stream had multi-channel audio. Multi-channel audio requires more resources compared to standard 2Channel. Does your gaming use multi-channel audio?
Can you run the same test on the macOS side?
If Windows is still an issue, check if your Mac gets hot when your play in Windows.

In Windows Device Manager, can you expand the Audio and Sound Controllers tab and post a screen shot?
If you have them installed, then they should be the ones in use.
As a test, after the Restore point has been created, try the standard BC drivers and test your Gaming Audio.
Can you check the Audio quality settings for the internal speakers?
W10 requires BC 6.x drivers. Run BCA and click on Action -> Download, which should provide the BC-standard drivers.
If you have external speakers, can you test with these?
Can you test the standard BC drivers, before you spend the money on USB dongles?
Do you see any events related to either of the two Audio devices in Device Manager?
