HELP. iPhone X GPS Not Working!

Hello everyone,

I purchased an iPhone X back in January this year. Soon after getting the phone I noticed the GPS would not follow my location on GoogleMaps, Apple Maps or Waze. I thought it maybe a simple fix via a software update but we are now in June on IOS 11.4 and still it doesn't work. I cannot use my phone for navigation at all, completely useless for a £1000 phone!

I have been in connact with Apple Support since early April with this issue, after multiple phone resets and setting up as a new iPhone (not restoring the device to my iCloud backups) the issue continued to persist and Apple accepted it to be looked at for repair under warranty. Great. I then get an email stating there isn't an issue with the phone and it was coming back. I use the phone and again, and guess what? It still doesn't work. Apple are being completely unhelpful regarding the issue and I find the lack of service infuriating. I have so much evidence of the issue including screen recordings and Apple engineering still believe there isn't an issue. Please see two screenshots of my iPhone X and an iPhone 7 Plus with the same destination on GoogleMaps. Note the iPhone X just drifts away and will not follow the road even at very low speeds. GPS signal is excellent were I live too (close to London).

Please help!

There were someone here on Apple forum also had that issue on Google navigation; thr wife with intel A1901 had this issue and her husband with A1865 did not have this issue. She then exchanged for A1865 model and never had that problem again. I am using A1901 with crappy intel chip and could not use McDonald location services on iPhone X A1901 after 30 minutes of running in and out and had to restarted multiple times everyday to get it to work. With Qualcoom modem A1865, my coworker could checkout in 30 seconds. Apple senior advisor said it is carrier issue.

Start by checking your permissions In Settings, Privacy, Location Services. Then dig a little deeper, same menu, System Services.

Next try a few simple checks in other apps to prove whether the problem is confined to Google aMaps where your current attention is focussed. Try things like Apple Maps, see if it can just show your location on a map. In iMessage send your location to someone (yourself if necessary). Open the Compass app, see if it knows your latitude and longitude. Basically, gather the evidence whether the problem is in software or hardware.

When you have well documented evidence and not found the solution during your testing, Contact Apple Support again and arrange a Genius Bar appointment. You seem to be in an area well covered by Apple Stores so this shouldn’t be too difficult. Demonstrate the problem face to face, and ask them to demonstrate that the GPS module in your phone is working correctly.

I am very upset too, they said Apple wasn’t aware if this problem and when i showed them the forum where the couple had GPS with A1901 but not the A1865, they said Apple was not awared of this and that was not official. I am not going to use iPhones for me and my family in the future. They could not feel customers’ feeling for spending $1159 on a phone that cannot function as it intended to.

I have had this problem off an on for months. I finally called Apple, and they've called me back a few times, and I have submitted many photos and logs showing when this happens. I reset my network settings, and my which didn't change a thing, then my location and privacy, and nothing changed. But then as it was doing the same thing with maps, I had to restart my phone. After a restart, it started working fine again, until today when I tried to use it again. It had no clue where I was. I restarted my phone, and then turned on WiFi and it started working better. I have *never* had to have wifi on in order to have my GPS and maps work properly while I'm out driving around.

Seems to me I have the Qualcomm chip in mine since I got an unlocked, no sim phone for a verizon network. An Apple employee actually placed the order for me.

I use my maps on a daily basis for my work. I find this totally unacceptable, that not only does Apple support is clueless, but that Apple has not done more to fix this. I suspect it's quite common, but not everyone may use maps because of data plan restrictions.
