spaces in text when cutting and pasting in word for mac

Are the 'multiple blank spaces' in the material that is copied?

Are there 'multiple blank spaces that you want to keep in the material that has been pasted?

You should be able to remove all occurrences of repeated spaces using repeated applications of Find / Replace All.

Start by going to the View menu and choosing Show Invisibles. Spaces will appear as dots between 'words'. You may also see characters representing non-breaking spaces.

IF you have non-breaking spaces as well as regular spaces, you may want to start by replacing all non-breaking spaces with regular spaces (instructions at end of message), then follow the steps below to discard all but one space in each break between 'words.'

• Press command-F to open the Find / Replace dialogue, and enter about one third the largest number of consecutive spaces in the document in Find, and one space in Replace.
• Click Replace All.
• Repeat 'Click Replace All' until Numbers reports '0 replaced'.

Remove half the spaces from the Find box, and repeat the step above.

Continue with half as many spaces in Find until you have two spaces in find and one in Replace, and Numbers reports '0 replaced'.

You will now have a single space in all places where there had been one or more spaces before.

If there are non-breaking spaces in the mix: Do this first.

• Press command-F to open the Find / Replace dialogue.
• Copy one non-breaking space from the document. Paste it into the Find box.
• Type one regular space into the Replace box.
• Click Replace All.

Now continue with the steps listed in the main part of the message.
