You really locked the phone before putting in your pocket?
It might not be useful, but maybe disabling Raise to Wake might help to prevent this.

My iPhone X has never done that in my pocket nor has anyone else I know with one had the issue you are experiencing. Looks like you need to get yours looked at.
Why are the only options “correct” or “right answer”
Where’s the “note helpful at all”, “ not even on the right track” buttons?
The question remains, if only my face or the passcode should unlock my phone, why does it awake and open random items in my pocket - and how do I stop this - step by step guide please.
While it is possible for the iPhone to wake to the lock screen, it should not unlock and/or open any random items. This is not normal behavior. What troubleshooting have you tried, since you are demanding a way to stop this in a step by step guide, it would help if you indicated what you have already tried, so no one is wasting your time by repeating steps.

iPhone X is unlocking in the pocket. This is widespread, and not because we cannot “lock” a phone correctly. Is a bug fix forthcoming?
