Crackling sounds through headphones iPhone 7+

Hey there!

I haven't seen anything like this before on the community links, so I'm just wondering if anyone has experience this. I can't be the only one out there. I have an iPhone 7 Plus for over a year now through my carrier, ATT Wireless. I love this device even if it's not an 8 or an X -- the 7 is just as amazing! I do operate on iOS 11.4.

However, recently anytime I've plugged in my headphones and begin listening to music, I'll have a crackling sound or like a repetition of the things I'm hearing. This will happen with calls as well. I was on a call with my doctor's nurse and her words kept being repeated via headphones like a scratched record. I finally removed my headphones and it was all fine. I don't know if this is because of my headphones or if it's because of my headphone hardware.

It doesn't happen ALL the time, but it's been happening for frequently (if that makes sense).

Someone out there help with ideas! Should I contact Support?

Check the charging port for lint or other debris.
