Why did apple remove ftp?

This is very frustrating for someone who uses ftp to well, transfer files. I know how to use to scp and ssh, but those work differently and are not compatible with windows. If I want to transfer a file to another OS, or if I'm running a webserver on CentOS, Redhat, or any other linux distro, maybe I prefer using ftp. This doesn't involve signing in with SSH which doesn't help much with bulk file transfer.

So I'd like some good justification as to why I can't ftp natively on Mac.

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

Apple's ftp wasn't secure - no one's was, which is why it was removed in favor of sftp.

If you absolutely need an insecure ftp client, there are plenty available and presumably you will know the dangers of doing so before using it.

For anyone who needs ftp, after a quick search a found a workaround.

Just install the GNU ftp. You'll need homebrew though.

I have had problems with apple's ftp. It wasn't secure either. I've used PureFTPd Manager.

or a stand alone ftp client, many of them out there some free, some paid ex Fetch Fetch Softworks
