External memory to directly record video on iPhone 6

I need an external memory device to directly record video from my iphone 6. My internal (16GB) is full.

iPhone 6, iOS 11.4, 16GB memory

You cannot add memory by using memory cards attached to the lightning port. Some companies sold flash drives (WiFi often) that would allow you to store media on the card and read it from the flash drive but I haven't even seen those in quite a while. You cannot copy files from your iPhone to the external drive, there is no user file management function in iOS.

I see a lot of memory cards that plug into the lightning jack to add memory. I assume you can transfer data to free up internal memory. My 16gb iphone is almost full with apps, not data. I want to shoot video, but I don't have enough memory to shoot anything but a very short video that I then need to transfer off in order to shoot another very short video. An external device attached through the lightning that would accept video directly would be ideal. Does anyone know if any of these add-on memory devices work that way?
