Content loading from internet very slow - Apple Watch Series 3

I have a very fast broadband connection (Around 100 MBPS), but the Apple Watch series 3 takes a lot of time to download apps and load content from them. It took forever to download the apps I previously had after a restore. Moreover, it has been refreshing content from an app (Egencia) for 15 minutes now but is still loading. It takes a split second on the iPhone to refresh content on the same app. Same goes for the Facebook Messenger app on my Apple Watch.

The version of WatchOS is 4.3.1.

Hey saadfromsnarøya,

If I understand correctly, the watch is paired with the iPhone and apps will load, but they take a while. If it is not an Apple Watch with a cellular connection, it is getting its internet connection from the iPhone. One thing that can cause a slow connection is wireless interference. You may also want to unpair the Apple Watch from the iPhone and then pair them again and see if the issue persists.

Hello saadfromsnarøya,

Thanks for the update. The Wi-Fi capabilities the Apple Watch has is used when the iPhone is not nearby or is off. Since this began after you restored the Apple Watch, one thing you have not mentioned having tried yet that may help is to restart the Apple Watch.

When your iPhone is off or out of range, your Apple Watch can use Wi-Fi networks that you've connected to previously on your iPhone.

Hi, thanks for the reply. However, the technical specifications of an Apple Watch shows that it has a wifi chip installed and is capable of using wifi independently just like an iPhone and it connects to the same wifi the iPhone is connected to. This means that an Apple Watch Series 3 should be getting similar internet speed as the iPhone.

And I have tried unpairing and pairing the watch. Did not notice any changes in the internet speeds.
