Why not let the keyboard started from the really bottom of the screen, instead of giving a free blank grey space.
Makes it uncomfortable as we need to type slightly higher than another iPhone

That is where the home bar is. Without going into schematics, it essentially needs to be in the location it is to prevent accidental closing of the open app. That is also the swipe area for quick changing to previous and next apps.
No one here works for Apple, nor had anything to do with the design of the screen on iPhone X. You should tell Apple how you feel via this link, though I believe you are the first person to post here anything about this, so I wouldn't expect this to be a high priority for Apple: Feedback - iPhone - Apple

I really think, the gap is slightly too big. Makes it slightly hard to type on iPhone X, considering the width of the iPhone X itself.
