Question

App Store updates not working

Dear all,

I seem to have a problem updating two apps on my iPhone (8):

- Clips

- Apple Store

Other apps get prompted to update and they are updated no problem. The above two remain in the incomplete updates, but pushing the button "update" makes the circle appear with the square in the middle for hardly a second and then it goes back to showing the "update" button as if nothing ever happened.

The phone is updated to the most recent iOS (11.4). Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Did you already try to force restart the phone? You will not lose data, but this can clear some glitches.

On an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

Apple introduced the option to delete built-in Apple apps in iOS 10 and iOS 11:

Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 11 device or Apple Watch - Apple Support

If you tap on the apps until they wiggle, and they show the little white cross, those apps can be deleted.

Next step would be deleting the apps and downloading them again from the AppStore.

Restrictions on your phone are all set to "Off"?

The Apple Store App and Clips can be downloaded and deleted again, I just tried that successfully.

Given that they are original Apple apps, I assumed that they could not be deleted but you can indeed! I have just deleted them and will download them once they are needed. Thanks for your support!

Problem regarding this suggestion is that they are bith Apple apps that cannot be deleted
