Why doesn't my iMovie want to allow input from GarageBand
Every time I want to input something from GarageBand. it always says there is a problem with ilife and it always happens.

It just occurred to me -- are you getting a message that says "(x no) of Files are missing iLife preview and unavailable"?
If so, that possibly could mean that there are DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected songs in your Garageband projects. DRM protected songs are unavailable to be played in iMovie. You could try putting some unprotected songs into Garageband and see if iMovie will accept them. iTunes songs purchased after year 2009 should be DRM free.

I think you are right. The Garageband item does appear in the iMovie media sidebar, so you should be able to access its content from iMovie. I don't know why you are getting the error message unless there is some corruption in the Garageband app or some preferences issue with iMovie. You could try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library and see if you can import from Garageband. Or, you can try the alternative method that I suggested.

Hi,
I hardly use Garageband and have the old Garageband 6.0.5 app on my computer. With that app, from the Share menu item you export your project to disc as a song or movie on your desktop, and from there drag it into iMovie. That's about all I can offer on the subject if it's any help at all. If not, perhaps others more familiar with Garageband will chime in here.

Good that at least you have a workaround. It appears that some corruption happened in the Garageband app in the iLife package. If you can, you might try reinstalling both iMovie and Garageband, or at least Garageband. That should replace the missing file.
Good luck with this,

Have faith.
Have you updated to current version Garageband? That would be version 10.

thanks, but you actually should be able to input it just from iMovie
Although the first method worked
No good luck here
I'm on version 10.3.1
I recorded all of them by myself and some I did it just for iMovie because iMovie also won't accept voice memos.
and also my error screen says "one of the files are missing iLife preview and unavailable". Don't mind the first one I translated i just didn't translated it right.
Beats me. I get the same message. Must be something wrong with the link to Garageband. Fortunately the Garageband>Desktop>iMovie workaround is fairly easy.
Best,
