German keyboard: ^°- and <>-keys switched in High Sierra 11.13.5

Hi all,

I am using a 2015 Macbook pro running High Sierra 10.13.5 (17F77) with an external German keyboard. Recently, without me playing around with the language- or keyboard-settings, the ^°- and <>-keys switched. I tried to remove the German keyboard layout in the System preferences, replace it by an English one and then re-add it. But the flipped keys remained and seem to be part of the standard German layouts, stranger even, there isn't a <>-key as there would usually be next to the Shift-key. See below.

Is this strange new behaviour specific to my system or have the keyboard layouts been messed up in a recent update for everyone? Is there a way to fix this currently without defining a custom mapping in Ukulele?

Great, thank you. The one thing that saved me was the program "Karabiner" as the KeyboardSetupAssistant wouldn't open without it. Now everything is back to normal.
