This item no longer available

I was creating a new playlist and decided to add a song that I purchased a long time ago to it but when I went to download it I couldnt and no matter what I do itunes keeps saying “ This item is no longer available”. When I got on the iTunes app to see if I could download it again that way or just even buy it again I can’t even find it. I don’t understand. I OWN this song I purchased it just the same way I would purchase a CD they can’t just take my money and not give me what I paid for. If they want their song back then I want my money back.

Hi, I am having the same issue with an album I purchased earlier this year (Clap! Clap!'s Tayi Bebba). Thankfully I have it downloaded on my old computer; but my iPhone and new computer both have the little cloud download icon (as I only streamed it to those devices) and it says "This item is no longer available".

If I search the iTunes store for this album on any of my devices, it does not appear as purchased and it looks like I can re-purchase it.

I wonder if there was an update to the albums we are having issues with, resulting in "not available" issues?

Apple, I'd much rather not re-purchase any of my albums, could you straighten this out? Thanks.

Well I spoke with Lisa with Apple Support who told me that if the distributor pulls the album from iTunes than it will remove from your library and you will lose it permanently. I’ve now lost two different albums due to distribution issues with Apple iTunes. How does Apple protect their customers who bought the albums with the assumption they actually ‘purchased’ the album? They don’t, in fact they will turn around and offer you an awful in-store credit for 5 total songs. So I lost two different albums due to distributors pulling the music from Apple iTunes and since I hadn’t backed up the music on a physical hard drive, I was offered a lousy 5 song credit after Apple had already profited from my initial purchase. Ridiculously poor customer service. My faith in this ‘service’ has gone down the drain as I have lost a couple of albums at this point. Long story short back up tour music because Apple iTunes will not protect your purchases through their platform.

PS it took me over an hour to even get the answer from support so their idea of customer service was to offer a pathetic 5 in song in-store credit after I had lost two entire albums.
