create footnote shortcut in pages?

Hi there,

Is there a way to create a footnote shortcut in Pages? Or else, is there a pre-existing footnote shortcut?

The only replies I can see on this forum are from 7-9 years ago and are no longer relevant.

There is no footnote shortcut, but you can roll your own. First, quit Pages.

System Preferences : Keyboard panel
1. Shortcuts : App Shortcuts
2. Click '+' button
  1. Application : Pages
  2. Menu Title: Footnote
  3. Keyboard Shortcut: control+f
  4. Add
3. Quit System Preferences
Pages will now have Insert menu : Footnote ^F

I can type a word and press ^F and the footnote is inserted. No Insert menu : Footnote action needed. Using Pages v7.1.

Thanks! I actually had to type in Insert->footnote before it understood the command, but got it to work.
