Bluetooth error with Kia Car and iPhone 5s

I have connected iPhone 5s with Kia car which connected okay, however when receiving calls it connects the call but then not plays the audio via car. When you make a call it works correctly. (PS connected a iPhone X and works great)

Also it will not reconnect to car without going into Bluetooth settings on phone.

Can anyone tell me what wrong or is this what should happen?

Hello, geenig1.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It's my understanding that your calls are not switching to the car audio when receiving calls. How are you accepting the calls, using the iPhone or the car stereo? If you're using the iPhone to answer the call it would route through iPhone first and you'll have to manually switch your audio source to the car stereo: Switch the audio on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Are you able to switch to the car stereo after you take the call?

You can also try unpair/pair your iPhone to see if that helps. Also, check with the manufacturer of your car stereo to see if there are any updates.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers!

Hello, geenig1.

Trying different iPhone devices was a great step to take in narrowing down the issue. We'd still recommend reaching out to the manufacturer about this issue since it seems like on a specific model of iPhone is having the issue. You didn't miss any settings and have you tried your iPhone 5s with a different car stereo? Make sure those iPhone devices are up-to-date. It's possible there could be a firmware update for the stereo.

Cheers!

Hi Chris

Thanks for the quick reply

When an incoming call is received, the radio switches off and call ring sounds, however when answered (on car) the radio switch back on, even though the phone call was answered. When look at the phone and check the audio sound is indicating the car speakers. When switch to iPhone speaker and then back the car speaker call now can be heard in car.

When making a call from car (Last Number Redial) it work fine.

Hope this is clear and do you have any thought?

Hi MoonJ

Thanks you for your reply. I tried it with a iPhone X (on iOS 11.4.1) and worked perfectly, and it was working on old iPhone 4s. Just seems to not work on the iPhone 5s (I tried two iPhone 5s). I was wondering if I missed a setting in the phones or is it just error with the iOS for 5s. If so maybe corrected in iOS 12

Hello, geenig1.

Thank you for the update. This sounds like an issue with the way the car stereo is handling calls but let's be sure. If possible, try connecting your iPhone to another car stereo and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't then we'll know it's not the iPhone. At that point, reach out to the manufacturer.

Let us know if this happens on another stereo.

Cheers!
