Copy and Paste Glitch

I recorded a vocal track in a new project and want to copy it to a previously recorded project also. I copy the new vocal track and when I paste it into the other project a completely different recording appears. It's like this other recording is stuck in the copy clipboard. I shut my computer off and restarted it hoping it would clear the clipboard but the same recording appears. I have never had this happen before and I've done this copy and paste method many times in the past. Can someone tell me what is happening and how to stop it?

Thanks

You could save the vocal recording as a separate audio file, which you can then drag into another project from the browser.

Alternatively, locate the file corresponding to the vocal recording by right-clicking on the file name in the browser and using "Show in Finder" function. You may have to right-click on the LPX project file name thus exposed in Finder and select "Show Package Contents" to get to the "/Media/Audio Files/" folder (then again, drag the file into the target project):

I have no idea what happened, but it sounds as if you had two projects open (bad idea), and then copy, switch to the other project, and paste; or perhaps one open, copy, close, open other project, paste (also not a good idea)?

Anyway, those are not the most ideal techniques for copying a track. You see, you can import any track from any other project without the need to ever open the original project. Here's how:
