Lately, when in Mail (or even TextEdit), my cursor likes to get stuck on the hand icon.
Here are some examples:
Obviously, this is extremely annoying. What do you think is the cause of this, and how is it possible to fix it?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)
Restart the computer holding down the command - option/alt - P - R keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime for the second time. You may need to do this 2-3 times.
Try a SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.
If those recommendation don't sort it I would try a SafeBoot to clear System caches.
I am currently in Safari writing in text fields (obviously 😉), and the same thing is happening here.
