Restore Apple Music Library from backup

While doing a library clean-up with a Smart Playlist, I accidentally deleted 90% of my library from Apple Music. I have a backup, however if I restore it, Apple Music over-writes the library as soon as I reconnect to the internet. How can I successfully restore the backup?

I figured out a solution for anyone else who has accidentally deleted their Apple Music, not iTunes, libraries. Short of contacting Apple, this seems the only way to do it.

  1. Restore ~/Music/iTunes from the pre-delete to your desktop.
  2. Disconnect from the internet.
  3. Open iTunes holding down option, and open the library in the folder restored to the desktop.
  4. Select your entire library in the Songs view and hit copy. (Command-C)
  5. Paste the copy into Excel or Numbers.
  6. Save as CSV.
  7. Reconnect to the internet and download Stamp (you have to pay for a license if you want to do more than ten songs). Use the CSV option, and the Apple Music import option. Voila!
