How can I sign into my iPod touch 4th gen using Two-Factor authentication?

I recently found my 4th gen iPod touch and would like to use it on vacation so that my phone is free. I cannot sign into my Apple/iCloud account on the iPod because it requires 2 factor authentication. Each time I attempt to log in, I receive the numbers on my iPhone, but there is no where to enter the digits on the iPod. How can I fix this so that I can use my iPod again?

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6

Hello J.Wallace!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I see from your post you are wondering why you cannot enter the code for two-factor authentication when signing in to your Apple ID with your 4th generation iPod Touch.

Two-factor authentication only works with trusted devices that are running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later. Check out the article called Two-factor authentication for Apple ID for more details, specifically this section which may help:

What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions—like an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)—you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field.

I hope this information is helpful!

Kindest Regards.
