How do I copy photo files to another storage device?

How do I copy photo files to another storage device?

I do not want to open the app "Photos" and select my 20 000 photos and then export them.

Is there another way?

Thanks.

I found another way actually. Let me know what you think.

1-In finder go to pictures then Photos Library.

2-right click and select "show package contents"

3-Select the "masters" folder as the parent folder

4-Open the parent folder and type Command + F. Select Kind = Document. That should display a list of all files in the folder and sub folders. (in my case "masters" would be the parent folder and not "documents" as in the screenshot)

User uploaded file

5-You can then select all and drag them to a single designated folder on your external drive

NOTE: I am not sure what happens to files with the same name when i follow this method though...I believe they get renamed...

that is not correct

1 - it is dangerous and may damage or destroy your Photos library

2 - depending on he options you are using it may not even give you what you want

3 - and at best you get one version of the photos, with the originals or the edited versions

Going directly into the Photos library is NOT supported, is dangerous and will give unpredictable results - again the only way to do this correctly, safely and predictably (and with much less effort than you are using besides) is

You do not copy them, you export them - and -

You can click on Photos and the select all (command a) and export them all to any desired location

It is the only save way, if your photos are in your Photos Library and you want to save them as separate files. on a different drive

If you want to move the complete Photos Library to a different drive, simply drag the library to the drive using the Finder. The drive needs to be suitable for using it with Photos however: Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support
