My question is I broke my Iphone 5 and could not retrieve anything from it to my New Iphone 6 and can not remember my code, if I do this will it delete my messages from my Iphone 5? I have messages on there that are very important to keep.
So, i just decided to Reset my end to end encryption(moment of spur). And i still have all my messages, photos, contacts, you name it. Everything is intact. You might as well go ahead and do it. It just shows resetting keychain. And keychain contains all your passwords related to all your accounts and stuffs. So thats the only thing that got reset on my phone
Having read through this whole thread, I took a chance and reset end-to-end encrypted data. This was really sloppily done, Apple! This is why I don't use the Cloud for anything but my calendar. I'm an IT specialist and yet I had no idea what would happen if I did the reset. Would I lose my calendar info? My contacts? What a hassle! Both my phone and my computer were stuck. I just upgraded to Mojave so I thought I'd do as the pop-ups insistently suggested, and now I regret it. Apparently, the only thing that was reset was my keychain. That could be a huge hassle for some people. I've never been able to understand how Apple can be so great and so horrible at the same time.
What exactly does “home data” mean ?
Will my apps all get deleted or is it just passwords and networks, stiff like that ?
Someone please answer this question, I’ve spent days looking for a related thread. Everything is so technical and I just need a straight answer. At this rate I’m shocked that Apple is the first “Trillion” dollar company. It’s trash for this especially if it deletes my old data.
Just did it, and my files/calendar/photos/iCloud were still there!
I haven't figured out what's been removed yet...
I've been having this problem too and notifications keep popping up on my phone which is really irritating. I decided just to reset it and hope for the best out of frustration. I did no lose any messages, photos or anything like that. I was also able to approve my computer from my phone once I reset encrypted date on my phone.
I have been having the same problem! I was getting the "Waiting for Approval" death spiral on both my mac and my iPhone. I finally just went for the Reset Encrypted data plunge on my phone and it worked. All it does is reset your keychain. Photos, texts, and all others still intact. I was then able to approve my computer off my phone and everything seems to be running smoothly with no more annoying notifications about re-logging in to iCloud. Thanks for nothing apple. Scary notifications like "will remove all end-to-end data" with no explanation stopped me from doing this for 2 months!

These features and their data are transmitted and stored in iCloud using end-to-end encryption:

If I reset iPhone end to end encrypted data, what will I lose?
