A1502 mid - 2014 - Thunderbolt 2

Dear all,

first of all, thank you for your time!!! 🙂

I'm wondering if I can use a thunderbolt 3 monitor with my MacBook Pro A1502 mid 2014, via thunderbolt 2 with the "Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter", and if yes, can it provide also charging?

Thank you again

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

The LG Thunderbolt 3 display sold by Apple is too high a resolution to work with your MacBook Pro.

Even if it worked, it could not power the laptop since only Thunderbolt 3 ports can handle power.

Apple mentions only Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 displays, to a Thunderbolt 3 computer, not the other way round.

"In addition, it can be used to connect Thunderbolt-enabled displays — such as the Apple Thunderbolt Display and LG Thunderbolt 2 displays — to any of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on your MacBook Pro."
