My MacBook Pro 2018 version speakers are crackling.

Hello. A few days ago I got the new MacBook Pro 2018 15in version. I’ve noticed since yesterday that my MacBook Pro speakers were crackling randomly. I’m not sure if since this is a new release that there are bugs in the software or if it’s an actual defect. Because before yesterday, I haven’t experienced this issue. I resetted the NVRAM and did a diagnostics test with no issues. After about 10 minutes of use that’s when it does it. Then stops. I think I might hopefully but not hopefully have to get it replaced since it’s under the warranty still. I did nothing to it. So this is dissapointing to me.

Hey! I had the same issue. I think I've managed to fix it by making sure that my MIDI output is set to 48.000 Hz. Go to Audio MIDI Setup settings, under Macbook Pro Speakers set the output to 48.000 Hz if its anything else (like 44). You might have a software installed that has changed the Hz value (and possibly some other under-the-hood sound settings as well). So far it has fixed the issue to set it back. I have not yet updated to Mojave, but has installed all updates up until that. See picture below.

2- SMC Resetleyin.

I have the same problem and have made an attempt to solve this problem. I can see how much it works for you.

1- "Hey Siri!" Turn off the listening feature.

2- Reset the SMC.

Here is something that has worked for me so far..

Open Audio Midi setup. Under "audio devices" select "MacBook Pro Speakers". Check sample format (i set mine to 88.2) then select "MacBook Pro Microphone". Verify that it is set to the same sample format as the speakers. If not, change it to reflect the same sample format. What i noticed on my machine was that the sample rate on the speakers and microphone were set to different rates. If you have any line plugged in to the headphone port, make sure it is also set to the same format. This could be because on previous generations of MacBook pro the settings seemed to automatically set to reflect each other.

I say that this has worked so far after doing the other steps of troubleshooting that did not achieve results. I also noticed that the noise was also in the headphones, however when using an external DAC i never got the noise. This leads me to believe that the problem lies within the internal AD/DA running at different rates leading to clocking error, resulting in the noise that is being experienced by many users.
