My MacBook Pro 2018 version speakers are crackling.

Hello. A few days ago I got the new MacBook Pro 2018 15in version. I’ve noticed since yesterday that my MacBook Pro speakers were crackling randomly. I’m not sure if since this is a new release that there are bugs in the software or if it’s an actual defect. Because before yesterday, I haven’t experienced this issue. I resetted the NVRAM and did a diagnostics test with no issues. After about 10 minutes of use that’s when it does it. Then stops. I think I might hopefully but not hopefully have to get it replaced since it’s under the warranty still. I did nothing to it. So this is dissapointing to me.

My MacBook Pro 2018 has the same issues. Reinitialising Core audio in Logic Pro X, by changing a random audio setting or a restart seems to fix it for some time. Unfortunately it is coming back randomly, most often after the system is running for a few hours. Im vey disappointed since I bought it for composing and Djing. Im hoping for a Patch.

I have observed it mainly with the Headphone audio out were I have connected my studio monitors with (I know a audio interface would be more professional...)

I have the same issue. I bought a 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Core i9 with 1TB hard drive and 16GB of RAM and the speakers started doing that. I also had an issue...if I was listening to an audio book online, the audio would echo and it would talk over itself. I took a video of this and brought my MacBook Pro into the Apple store the very next day. They couldn't figure out what it was so they replaced it with a new MacBook Pro, same configuration only this one now has 32GB of RAM and the same thing is happening. I haven't tried restarting the NVRAM or anything like that but I just find it unacceptable that this would happen on a $4,000 machine!

I have the same problem! In macOS everything is ok even when I play games. It only happens when use Win10 via BootCamp. In about 10 mins of gaming - the crackling sound appears! I talked to apple people and since its ok in macOS, they are referring to Microsoft support to solve the problem. Apple whats going on?! Its apple's driver which does not work right. I tried to reset smc & nvram - NOTHING.

I have contacted the senior adviser that was handling my case and asked for him to call me as I want a full refund or new replacement laptop. He mentioned to me on the phone previously that if I wanted to go down that route we could look at that as I am not satisfied with the product.

I’ll let you all know what he says but I agree. Everyone should take this to social media cause the solution of “waiting for Mojove” is not good enough.

Hello from Russia! The same problem with the official MacBook Pro 15" 2018, 2.6 GHZ, 560X, which I purchased from the official Apple reseller in Russia three days ago. I don't work with Bootcamp or logic Pro. But I have Adobe Premiere pro 2018, and this problem appeared in it.
After about 40 minutes of work in Adobe Premiere speakers start to rattle, the sound starts to lag and repeat. If you immediately restart the Premiere, the problem disappears for some time and does not apply to the entire system. But if you work with this problem for another 10-15 minutes, the problem begins to manifest itself in other conventional programs, where there is sound, in the browser, in YouTube, in a music or video player on the computer. And then it helps only to restart the computer.

Called in Russian support of Apple, there is about this issue heard and know, but officially can't say for sure, because the authorities in America is silent. Offer to carry a computer in service, to make the diagnosis and to look for technical solution. And this is three days after buying a brand new device!

Before that, 5 years used MacBook Pro 15, late 2013, and there were no such problems at all.

I read all the messages from this branch and decided not to carry the computer to the service yet, try to use the options that are offered here. Or wait for a new operating system, suddenly everything will be repaired.

In general, not only in your countries the problem with this model of MacBook Pro... And this very strange!

Hello everyone,

I have the same problem here. I bought a new MacBook Pro 15" with this sound issue and asked for a replacement.

I still have the problem with the second one.

I've called Apple Care every 2 days for 2 weeks now, still doesn't have any feedback on the problem although my problem as been reported to the engineer team according to one of my senior advisor in charge.

I won't change my MacBook for a 3rd buggy one, I have already lost too much time with that, feeling I've spent more time with Apple Care than my family this summer...

This situation is unacceptable and last too long, it's time for us to ask for an answer, excuses and compensation.

That's why I highly suggest you retweet or respond to the following tweet by tagging @apple and @applesupport:

on Twitter: "Would you ever communicate on this sound issue with the new @Apple MacBook Pro @AppleSupport ? I…

Let them hear us !

I tried to understand if this is a hardware or software problem. I started playing a game via Bootcamp and instead of using the built in speakers, I connected a bluetooth speaker. I was playing the game for a about an hour and surprise the sound was excellent. Then I disconnected the speaker by swiping it off, so the system went back to the built in speaks. After half an hour the cracklings returNed! THIS IS A HARDWARE ISSUE! Does it mean its a faulty device? Could I get my money back?

I doubt that it is a hardware issue since it’s on the internal speakers as well as on anything connected to the audio out. Bluetooth Audio is digital wile the before mentioned seam to be analoge? Is the internal speaker analoge? I think that maybe the digital anlog conversion driver or something could be buggy but I’m not an expert on this.

It might be a hardware issue, but it proved to me that it is solved via resetting through re-installing MacOS. So it does rely on something software does (or perhaps doesn't do once it crosses a line). However, it might be a serious hardware flaw that might cripple the system use once it is corrected: the system might be neutered to allow for problem to be subjugated.

i have updated using the update but im still waiting , the issue only occurs for like after 30-40 mins. I did however speak with a senior adviser at apple today and they have been handling my case and they told me that if i take my laptop into the apple store i am eligible for a full refund. Now im not sure if i should do the refund and wait 5-7 days to get the money back and buy a new laptop or if i should wait and see if this update has fixed it.

I don't know about anybody else, but after installing the Supplemental Update 2, my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 no longer outputs the crackling noise.

This evening, I set the microphone and speaker's sampling format to 44100 Hz and began playing back music on iTunes. Before the update, I would normally hear the noise in about an hour. I left my MacBook Pro to play music for about three hours and so far I am not hearing any noises.

I have also heard from others that the update did not fix the noise problem for them so I'll need to monitor for a week before I can conclude the issue is fixed (for me, at least).

I'm wondering what else may have improved (hopefully) in this 1 GB update. I'll be looking out for the sleep/wake issue this week too.

My MacBook Pro 2018 version speakers are crackling.
