I am working on my resume in Pages and have a skills section at the top that I have made into a bulleted columns but it adds a ton of white space between the columns and the next section. So as you can see in the screenshot below I want to remove all white space between the Skills section and the Projects section.

View menu : Show Invisibles. Anything hidden in there causing this gap that you can remove? Always mention the specific version of Pages that you are using.
What version of Pages and which template did you use?
Along with the general lack of Apple Quality Checking in the last 5 years there are bugs in Pages 5,6,7 CV templates which have remained there for the last 5 years despite repeated feedback pointing out the problems.
You may have to reconstruct the template from scratch, something Apple can not manage due to its persistent lack of resources.
Using version 7.1. I used the business resume template. I figured out it was a problem with the template I was using and ended up doing exactly what you said and reconstructed it from scratch. Apple should really make the templates a little more user friendly!

It contains personal information that is a magnet for those miscreants that look for phone numbers and email addresses on websites to further bad intentions. The Apple Support communities are also archived by Google for eons of exposure.
