FCPX missing files in my Library
Specs:
macOS High Sierra version 10.13.5
Final Cut Pro x version 10.4.3
3.3ghz processor
RAM 24 gb
iMac 2015
Question:
Me and my coworkers have been having our Final Cut video files become 'Missing Files' after importing them into our FCPx libraries. No big deal right? Just Relink the files. Well yes, we can relink the files, there's just two problems that persist.
Problem one:
Our importing is setup so that the files should be downloaded into the FCPx Library. Meaning there shouldn't be any linking to other folders or files.
Instead when I check the library contents under original media the content files are alias/link files not the videos themselves...
With our settings this shouldn't happen. It's weird because this problem hasn't happened with all of our libraries only some but we keep the same settings everytime. It seems sporadic but I was hoping if someone else had experience this same problem and what might be triggering it.
Problem two:
Our Libraries that do have the above problem happen to loose the link to the files we bring in from other libraries that don't have the problem. Again it doesn't download the files into the library like it should. If I were to drag a file that wasn't originally in the "Relinked Library" that file would appear just fine for about 15-30 seconds
but then it'd say it's a Missing File the next second in the timeline
I can Relink the files sure, but this happens to every file that'd I bring into the "Relinked library" and that is a lot of time wasted over relinking files. Even if my settings were set to linking files instead of copying it shouldn't be doing this.
If anyone happens to know a solution that i'm just not catching please let me know I'll be continuing to trouble shoot this issue and see if I can figure this out in the mean time.
Thank you for your time in reading this.
I look forward to any responses! đ
