How can I install mac os 10.11 on a mac pro 3.1 running 10.6.8? Apple have taken all the older installers off their Apple Store. They offer updates but these need the newer OS to be already installed.
OBS Mac Pro (Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.
Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Thanks for the link but my hardware cannot be updated to run High Sierra. There are no OS installers available in the App Store prior to High Sierra, only updates which need that OS version (newer than my current 10.6.8 to run).
You'll need to download it from the internet then.
