scrolling with mouse fcpx

Hi,

I have just connected my MacBook to a monitor for the first time to edit with a mouse. when I scroll using the mouse nothing happens. I want it to scroll through the timeline. I know you can do this by holding shift and scrolling but is there a way to change the setting so I don't have to hold shift every time. Thanks

I use a Logitech mouse myself -- love them! Problem is: there's dozens of variations even for "standard" mouses. If your Scroll Wheel has a "tilt" feature (you can move it [slightly] left and right [there should be a soft "click" when moved]) then you can set up that function to Scroll Left and Right from the Logitech Options System Preference (if you installed it!). Works fine in FCPX but it is a little slower than I'd like. While scrolling the storyline, you can tap down the Control key to temporarily halt scrolling - releasing it will continue scrolling. You can also "tap" the "back" and "forward" buttons instead of typing the up and down arrow keys to move the playhead to clip edges (which will also "scroll" the storyline).
