In Photos app, when i import photos from iPhone or from folder by default it create folder based on date you are importing. I want to import photos based on photo clicked (created). Can anyone help me if Photos app import the photos based on created date rather than import date?

The creation date will be saved with the photo and you will see it in the Info panel for the photos.

The "Import" album is showing you the photos and videos sorted by the date of the import session, you you can quickly find the most recently imported photos. To see the photos arranged by the capture date, use the "Photos" album at the top of the sidebar.

You can also create your own smart album "My All Photos" and set it to sort by the capture date:

  • File > New > Smart album
  • Set the smart rule to "Date is before "1.1.4000".
  • Then ctrl-click or right-click the album and set the sort order to "Keep sorted by oldest first" or "Keep sorted by newest first".

Hi Leonie,

Thanks for quick reply.

Yes i tried smart album option as well. But i use others software like Adobe Bridge for rest of my photo(from camera, drone etc). Apart from that sometimes i play my images directly on my TV where photos app album is not supported. So i have to manually select each photo which i want to display. If all photos are imported based on date created then it will be easy for me to directly play photos which are clicked on that particular date.
